Flower power hits Lakeside Village!

Tuesday 3rd March 2020

Lakeside Village is set to flourish with the arrival of a special wildflower garden.
The leading retail outlet wants to mark World Wildlife Day, which takes place on 3 March, so is introducing an area dedicated to the great outdoors.
The idea came as part of the centre’s ‘Go Green March’ which sees the management team strive to do as much as possible to reduce the impact Lakeside Village has on the surrounding environment.
Di Rodgers, centre manager at Lakeside Village, said: “We are really excited about our programme of activity throughout March as we are passionate about putting our environmental pledges and ideas into real action. Our wildlife garden is just one element of this. The aim is to have a calming space full of wildflowers to encourage the local bee and wildlife population to grow and thrive.
“It will also be aesthetically pleasing with some lovely colours and flowers to brighten up the space. We are placing it at the back of the car park, away from any food operators, so as not to cause any issues when people are sitting outside. We expect work to start in the coming month.”
Other activities planned include joining forces with other businesses in the Lakeside area to spearhead a neighbourhood litter pick, providing more general recycling bins across the centre as well as dedicated chewing gum bins and used battery and cartridge drop off points and free cotton shopping bag giveaways.
